The 10 Best Dumpster Rental Companies in NYC (2026 DCS-Ranked)

NYC has 55 active dumpster rental operators across the five boroughs on Google Maps. We scored every single one using our independent [DCS Score](/methodology) — a 100-point rubric based entirely on public data.

Only 3 of the 55 NYC operators earned the Elite tier (85+ DCS). Here are the top 10.

> Reality check: NYC is right in the middle of New York's [ghost listing problem](/blog/new-york-dumpster-rental-ghost-listings-investigation). Roughly 29% of the 55 NYC-area listings have no reviews or no rating at all — the worst concentration in the state. The list below filters those out so you can book with confidence.

How We Ranked Them

Every operator gets a DCS Score from 0 to 100 built from five transparent components:

1. Rating Quality (25 pts) — Google star rating tier 2. Review Volume (25 pts) — how many actual customers left feedback 3. Consistency (15 pts) — rating x review count (catches fake 5-star sham accounts) 4. Trust Signals (20 pts) — website, phone, working hours 5. Data Completeness (15 pts) — full address, coordinates, category tags

Tiebreaker: raw review count. Here's the NYC top 10.

The Top 10 NYC Dumpster Rental Operators

1. Just Rubbish Removal — DCS 95 (Elite)

5.0 stars - 490 reviews - Brooklyn

490 five-star reviews in a city where most operators can barely crack 100 is an outlier. Just Rubbish Removal has built a genuinely elite Brooklyn reputation on transparent pricing and same-day pickups. If you're running a brownstone gut-reno or clearing out a walk-up, this is the first call.

2. D.B. Container Service — DCS 85 (Elite)

4.8 stars - 108 reviews - Brooklyn

Old-school Brooklyn container operator. D.B. has the kind of reputation that gets passed contractor-to-contractor — the reviews repeatedly mention exact on-time delivery windows and clear weight allowances. Strong for construction job sites.

3. Rapid's Junk Removal & Waste — DCS 85 (Elite)

5.0 stars - 105 reviews - Long Island City

LIC-based, covers Queens and parts of Brooklyn. Hybrid junk removal + container rental operator. 5.0 across 105 reviews is rare in NYC. Good pick if you need a labor crew to load the container for you.

4. Guma Roll Off Containers and Dumpster Rental NYC — DCS 76 (Exceptional)

4.5 stars - 110 reviews - Brooklyn

Full-service roll-off operator covering all 5 boroughs. Slightly lower rating than the top 3 but 110 reviews is substantial for NYC. Known for handling DSNY street permit paperwork without the upcharge games smaller operators try.

5. WASTE CONNECTIONS - New York City — DCS 75 (Exceptional)

4.1 stars - 179 reviews - Bronx

Publicly traded national waste management operator with a real NYC presence. The 4.1 rating drags the DCS down, but the review volume (179) is among the highest in NYC. Better for commercial or large-volume construction than residential one-offs.

6. The Junk Pros Corporation — DCS 74 (Exceptional)

5.0 stars - 127 reviews - New York

Manhattan-headquartered full-service operator. The Junk Pros handles containers, labor loadouts, and estate cleanouts. Strong for high-end residential jobs where the customer cares more about the crew being professional than shaving $50 off the quote.

7. Perciballi Container Service — DCS 74 (Exceptional)

4.9 stars - 124 reviews - Staten Island

Staten Island's strongest operator by far. Family-run, multi-decade history, honest pricing. If your project is in SI or southern Brooklyn, this is the call — a lot of the Brooklyn operators tack on bridge/tunnel surcharges Perciballi just absorbs.

8. Mr. Gorilla Junk Removal — DCS 69 (Highly Recommended)

5.0 stars - 22 reviews - Brooklyn

Smaller operator, smaller sample — 22 reviews keeps them in the Highly Recommended tier rather than Exceptional. But every single review is 5-star. Good for a one-off residential container drop in Brooklyn.

9. Cleanout Express - Junk, Rubbish, Trash Removal NYC — DCS 65 (Highly Recommended)

4.8 stars - 89 reviews - New York

Manhattan-focused operator. The name is accurate — they lean toward full-service cleanouts more than pure container drops. Good for landlords clearing out a unit turnover or estate attorneys handling deceased-tenant cleanouts.

10. 1Stop Junk Removal — DCS 65 (Highly Recommended)

5.0 stars - 50 reviews - New York

50 five-star reviews and growing. Smaller independent operator that covers Manhattan and close-in Queens. Straightforward pricing, no upsells in the review patterns we checked.

What About the Other 45 Operators?

  • ~15 in the Exceptional / Highly Recommended tier below the top 10 (fine operators, just smaller or newer)
  • ~14 in the Good tier (serviceable for simple jobs if you're price-shopping)
  • ~16 in the Listed tier — many are ghost listings. [See the investigation](/blog/new-york-dumpster-rental-ghost-listings-investigation) for why NYC has so many.
If you're shopping price and willing to do your own diligence, the Good tier is fine. If you're shopping trust, stick to Elite and Exceptional.

NYC Dumpster Rental Pricing Context

NYC pricing is the highest in the country. Three reasons: landfill tipping fees in the Northeast, DSNY street permits, and bridge/tunnel tolls to haul containers back to transfer stations.

SizeTypical Price RangeWeight Allowance
10 yard$520-$7201-2 tons
15 yard$620-$8202-3 tons
20 yard$720-$9502-3 tons
30 yard$880-$1,2003-4 tons
These ranges are all-in for a 7-day rental and assume driveway or private-property placement. Watch for:

  • DSNY street permit fees of $75-$150 if the container goes on a public street
  • Overage fees of $100-$150 per extra ton — NYC tipping fees are the highest in America
  • Tunnel/bridge surcharges on jobs across the East River or Hudson
  • Stairs/walk-up labor fees for full-service cleanouts above the first floor

How to Book

1. Pick 2-3 operators from the list above 2. Call each for an exact quote — include your zip code, size, duration, the borough, and whether the container will sit on a driveway or street 3. Ask explicitly: "What's the weight limit, and what happens if I go over?" 4. For street placements, ask: "Who handles the DSNY permit, and what does it cost all-in?" 5. Get the quote in writing via text or email before you pay 6. Book the one with the clearest, most honest conversation — price isn't always #1

One more rule: never pay the full deposit up front via Zelle or Venmo to a company you don't know. Legitimate NYC dumpster rental operators take a small booking fee or charge on delivery. If they demand 100% up front through a personal payment app, walk away — it's a classic ghost-listing scam pattern.
