The 10 Best Dumpster Rental Companies in San Diego, CA (2026 DCS-Ranked)

San Diego has 24 active dumpster rental operators on Google Maps. We scored every single one using our independent [DCS Score](/methodology) — a 100-point rubric based entirely on public data.

Only 2 of the 24 San Diego operators earned the Elite tier (85+ DCS). But both are outstanding.

> Reality check: San Diego has the worst ghost-listing concentration of any major California city — 29.2%. That means nearly 1 in 3 SD dumpster rental listings is a phantom operator. We found a cluster of 5 "dumpsterllc" shell listings all operating out of San Diego office parks with zero reviews and no websites. [See our California investigation](/blog/california-dumpster-rental-ghost-listings-investigation) for the full breakdown. The list below filters those out.

How We Ranked Them

Every operator gets a DCS Score from 0 to 100 built from five transparent components:

1. Rating Quality (25 pts) — Google star rating tier 2. Review Volume (25 pts) — how many actual customers left feedback 3. Consistency (15 pts) — rating × review count (catches fake 5-star sham accounts) 4. Trust Signals (20 pts) — website, phone, working hours 5. Data Completeness (15 pts) — full address, coordinates, category tags

Tiebreaker: raw review count. Here's the San Diego top 10.

The Top 10 San Diego Dumpster Rental Operators

1. Junk King San Diego Downtown — DCS 89 (Elite)

5.0 stars · 1,455 reviews

1,455 five-star reviews is elite by any standard. Junk King's downtown San Diego franchise has built the most-reviewed dumpster/junk operation in the city by a wide margin. National brand, strong local crew, clear pricing. If you want the safest bet in San Diego with zero surprises, this is it. Located on Broadway in the Gaslamp area, they cover all of central SD, Mission Valley, Hillcrest, and North Park.

2. JunkMD — DCS 89 (Elite)

5.0 stars · 1,375 reviews

The second-most-reviewed operator in San Diego and the strongest independent in the market. JunkMD is based on Morena Blvd in Bay Park and has built a 5.0 rating across 1,375 reviews — that's the kind of volume that only happens when a company has been doing this competently for years. Hybrid junk removal + dumpster rental. Strong for residential cleanouts and mid-size renovation debris.

3. Crisan Junk Removal — DCS 84 (Exceptional)

4.9 stars · 262 reviews

South Bay / Otay Mesa operator with 262 reviews at 4.9 stars. Crisan serves the southern SD metro — if your project is in Chula Vista, National City, or Imperial Beach, this is a strong pick that doesn't have to fight I-5 traffic from downtown. Reviews consistently mention honest pricing and on-time delivery.

4. JunkMates - Junk Removal Downtown San Diego — DCS 84 (Exceptional)

5.0 stars · 244 reviews

Downtown operator on 15th St with a perfect 5.0 across 244 reviews. JunkMates competes directly with Junk King Downtown on geography and service type — hybrid junk removal + container rental. Reviews mention strong communication and transparent weight-limit conversations.

5. Debris Box — DCS 74 (Exceptional)

4.8 stars · 133 reviews

Mission Valley-based pure dumpster rental operator. Debris Box is the closest thing San Diego has to a dedicated roll-off specialist (vs. the junk removal + dumpster hybrid model of the top 4). 133 reviews at 4.8 gives you solid signal. Best pick if you're a contractor or DIY homeowner who just needs a box dropped and picked up without the full-service labor.

6. Junksters Removal — DCS 66 (Highly Recommended)

5.0 stars · 14 reviews

Campus Ave operator in Hillcrest. Small sample (14 reviews) but all 5-star and a clean trust-signal profile with website and phone. Worth a call if the top 5 are booked, but get the quote in writing given the smaller track record.

7. Junk and Trash Hauling San Diego — DCS 65 (Highly Recommended)

5.0 stars · 99 reviews

Downtown Market St operator. 99 five-star reviews is a meaningful sample — this operator is one good quarter away from pushing into Exceptional tier. Reviews mention same-day availability and competitive pricing. Solid mid-tier pick.

8. 24/7 Junk Removal LLC — DCS 65 (Highly Recommended)

4.9 stars · 97 reviews

The name is the pitch — they operate extended hours including weekends and some after-hours slots. Based in the Greyling Dr area near Kearny Mesa. 97 reviews at 4.9 is solid. Good for projects with tight timelines where you need flexibility on delivery windows.

9. Dumpster Rental Champs — DCS 61 (Highly Recommended)

5.0 stars · 5 reviews

Mission Valley (Metropolitan Dr) operator with a very small review sample. 5 reviews all at 5-star, plus a website and clear contact info. New operator building a track record. If you call them, treat it like hiring a new contractor: references, written quote, pay on delivery.

10. San Diego Trash Valet — DCS 60 (Highly Recommended)

5.0 stars · 53 reviews

Pacific Beach-based operator. 53 five-star reviews and a strong local reputation in the coastal communities (PB, Mission Beach, La Jolla). If your project is on the coast, Trash Valet knows the parking and access challenges better than the downtown operators.

What About the Other 14 Operators?

  • 1 in the Highly Recommended tier (EDCO Recovery & Transfer — 3.9 stars, 131 reviews, primarily a commercial transfer station)
  • 5 in the Good tier — small sample sizes and mixed profiles
  • 1 in the Listed tier with reviews (Liberty Dumpster San Diego — 1.4 stars, 11 reviews. Don't call.)
  • 7 are ghost listings — zero reviews, no website, no verifiable history. 5 of them are the "dumpsterllc" shell cluster we identified in [our California investigation](/blog/california-dumpster-rental-ghost-listings-investigation).

The Shell-Company Problem

San Diego has a specific issue that other California cities don't: a coordinated shell-listing network. Five listings — anthonydumpsterllc, bryvondumpsterllc, kevondumpsterllc, kalvynndumpsterllc, and daxendumpsterllc — all share the same pattern:

  • Zero reviews
  • No website
  • No phone variation
  • Addresses in San Diego office parks (Ronson Rd, Cornerstone Ct, Nancy Ridge Dr, Airway Rd, Cabot Dr)
  • Names that are clearly generated, not chosen by a real business owner
These are lead-gen listing experiments. They exist to rank in Google Maps, capture a phone call, and sell the lead to whoever bids highest. If you see any of these names in your search results, scroll past. They all score between DCS 10 and DCS 22.

San Diego Dumpster Rental Pricing

San Diego pricing sits between LA (expensive) and the Central Valley (cheaper). Reasonable tipping fees at the Miramar Landfill and less traffic congestion than LA keep prices moderate:

SizeTypical Price RangeWeight Allowance
10 yard$320–$4401–2 tons
20 yard$400–$5402–3 tons
30 yard$480–$6403–4 tons
40 yard$560–$7604–5 tons
These ranges are all-in for a 7-day rental. Watch for:

  • Overage fees of $75–$120 per extra ton
  • Extended rental fees of $10–$18 per additional day
  • Hillside/access surcharges — some SD neighborhoods (La Jolla, Point Loma, hillside areas of Mission Hills) require specialized drop-off that can add $50–$100
  • HOA restrictions — several SD condo and townhouse communities have container placement rules. Ask your operator if they've delivered to your complex before.

How to Book

1. Call 2–3 operators from the top 5 above 2. Get a written quote that includes weight limit, rental period, and overage policy 3. Ask about the Miramar Landfill vs. transfer station situation — operators who haul to Miramar directly can sometimes price cheaper than those who use private transfer stations 4. Pay a small booking fee or pay on delivery, never a full deposit up front to an unknown company 5. If anyone from the "dumpsterllc" cluster answers a different company name than what you searched, hang up immediately
