“We had Republic for years, with increasing rates and decreasing service. I called a few years ago to cancel service, and miraculously they were able to offer me a lower rate.... for a while. Then rates went back up, pickups were delayed or missed, etc. Finally got fed up and called to cancel. After 11 minutes on hold, the system offered me a call-back, which would have been nice 10 minutes sooner. Finally got a human on the phone and was told I couldn't cancel because the account is in my husband's name, even though I have my own login credentials on the website and have been the one paying the bills. My husband called back today and was again put on a lengthy hold and could not reach a human. He ended up working on this intermittently throughout the day. He was FINALLY able to cancel, but we were charged $51 to collect and "refurbish" the bins -- pretty insulting when you consider that they were dropped off to us with stinky, sticky sludge and old garbage in the bottom. Refurbishment, my ass. Edit 1/16/26: I received another bill today from Republic, despite canceling service backn in September. After nearly 30 minutes on the phone the service is supposedly canceled. Between my husband and myself, we have spent probably close to two hours calling just to cancel services.”
