“Our pickup did not happen due to snow on Friday. I called on Monday and they said they would pickup later that day. Today is Wednesday and now they say they are not picking up until Friday. I told them I wanted to cancel and was promptly transferred to eternal hold. I called back and was met with an arguing and rude representative who finally transferred me to someone who was actually helpful. I now know why we’re one of the last households in this neighborhood to use this company.”

“They have not picked up my dad’s trash in over 4 weeks!!! They are suppose to drive down the driveway and pickup trash every Monday. I have been calling and calling and calling. I keep getting told tomorrow, or the next day. For years we have not had too many problems but recently - I don’t know what changed but they just don’t pick it up. He’s never missed a payment, but for a complete month now - no pickup!!!”

“Absolutely terribly run company. They didn't come get our trash on Friday due to snow which is understandable. They said that they were going to come on Saturday. Never did. They said they were going to come on Monday. Never did. It is now Tuesday and they are telling us that they're not going to be coming until Friday. So we just have two whole weeks worth of trash piling up in our entire neighborhood because our HOA forces us to have this trash company. Absolutely disgusting”

“When we first signed up, we started with 1 trash bin and 1 recycle bin. The recycling pickup was so infrequent that I had to cancel it and switch to 2 trash bins. Canceling recycling wasn’t easy either—I had to deal with an outsourced call center, sit on hold for over an hour, and then repeat the process just to add a second trash bin. Service is scheduled for Tuesdays, but in over a year they actually showed up on the scheduled day maybe 10 times. Most weeks they simply didn’t show up, and the overflowing trash would get torn apart by bears. On top of that, by the end we were somehow being charged nearly $300 a month—for a service that, at best, only came once a month. Customer service is basically non-existent. Every time I called about a missed pickup, they flat-out lied—saying things like “we’ll be there in an hour” or “by the end of the day.” They almost never followed through. Even after I canceled recycling, they would randomly show up months later to take it, all while still charging me for it. Republic Services is one of the most disorganized and unprofessional companies I’ve dealt with. Meanwhile, Waste Management charges me $50 a month, has a clean and functional website, and an actual customer service rep I can understand on the phone—for a fraction of the price. Avoid Republic Services at all costs.”
