“I probably should have known we were in for a ride when I started up service and kept trying to figure out where our can was. We finally figured out that either I or the CSR I spoke to for setting up our account transposed two numbers on the house number, which made our address into a house number that doesn't exist. Never got a call or email for clarification of our address or that they weren't able to find our house. Just didn't get our cans. I asked for months for help resolving why I could not a payment online for our account. I had to enter payment information as a guest or call in every time to pay our bill. Two quarterly billing cycles (6 months total) went by without any resolution on this. This fall, we set up recycling. The CSR I spoke to told me pick up was weekly. Our schedule on Republic's app showed weekly recycling. I submitted several missed pick up requests before someone at Republic told me that pick ups were bi-weekly and would look into why my app calendar showed weekly pick ups for both trash and recycling. The straw that broke the camels back was when Republic didn't bother picking up trash on 12/26 due to "incliment weather". Roads were fine locally and all of my neighbors who used different services had their trash picked up with no issue. When I called on 12/26 about the lack of pick up, I was told that someone would call me. I'm still waiting for that call. I tried getting several times to get another pick up scheduled and it got cancelled each time. I cancelled on 12/30 to go to GFL at the end of January, a year into our contract. Republic finally picked up trash 15 days after the last pick up. I called Republic today because my invoice still shows $122 due for service for January through March. I was told on 12/30 that I would be charged around $40 for January. Today, I was told I had to pay the whole bill despite my service ending at the end of January, they couldn't change the invoice. Then they'll credit the amount for February and March. When I then asked about a credit for the 15 DAYS that they didn't bother to pick up trash, I was told that they don't credit for service cancellations due to "incliment weather". I was then told that they considered my January 2nd pick up as a double pick up because I had 1 SINGLE bag over the two 30 gallon bags they allow outside of the can. We didn't put all of our trash out at that time because we weren't aware that it would be considered a second pick up. That seems like something Republic should have communicated with their customers when we called and repeatedly scheduled through their app. Go elsewhere, the amount of time I've spent in the last year dealing with issues isn't worth it. I will willingly pay an extra $10/quarter to have the same service as my neighbors who haven't had any issues with pick up.”
“This 5-Star review is stricly for Ashlea Watkins, who is in the Jenison, MI location. I am a property manager of multiple commercial properties and Condo Associations, and she has been beyond impressive. I understand why there seems to be so many not so positive reviews, as I have struggled with Republic on multiple occassions as well, but Ashlea is the exact opposite. She is extremely responsive. Works quickly and accurately. Understands the customers perspective, and is a very pleasant person to work with. If you are able to request to work with her as your account rep, do it.”
“Do yourself a favor and look for another company. This company is ripping people off. I have been customer since 2021 and every year my bill increased so much. This year they tried to bill me $388 annually with trash service only. I called every year to get my price adjusted after calling to cancel it. To avoid returning the stupid trash can and additional fees, I decided to stay after they price matched with another company. Well, my price adjustment is not even processed yet and I am stuck with $388. The rep said I can go ahead and pay $388 and they will refund me the difference later. Why can’t the price adjustment be in the system by now? I called on 9/24. Ridiculous! They better refund my money or I will report them to BBB.”
“Does not even deserve one star. When I moved to my current residence Republic was the only service available so I paid, never missed never late, even as the bill increased after increase after increase. After 20 some years another service came available-at SURPRISE a lower rate by 30%. SO I cancelled Republic. Paid my final bill, now they have sent me a bill to PU their property (the plastic dumpster) including an administration fee-you know a bill for sending me a bill...I do not believe I should be billed for them picking up their own property.”
“Unfortunately our HOA requires us to all use the same company and we had to switch to Republic. It's been 2 months so far and not 1 single pickup date has gone as planned. They often grab the trash and not the recycling. On top of that we've had multiple rescheduled services due to "Weather". Never had that issue with Herringtons or others. We are now a week overdue for pickup!”
